Okechukwu Chukwulozie, a former Commissioner of the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) yesterday began his journey to Kuje Prison in Abuja to serve  15 years  over N10.4 million fraud.

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission(ICPC),in 2007 jointly charged Chukwulozie, his wife, Angela; and a former Deputy Commissioner in charge of Finance and Administration, Adedolapo Ogungbe to court the N10.4 million fraud without option of fine.

It was yesterday that Chief Chukwulozie began his journey to Kuje prison from ICPC detention cell as it was late yesterday to convey him to Kuje after securing his conviction papers.

Delivering judgment, Justice Mudashiru Oniyangi, said that the court sentenced Chukwulozie to three years on each of the five counts he is convicted for and it will run concurrently.

Oniyangi, held that the ICPC had proved all the ingredients of Section 19 of the the ICPC Act against him.

“The ICPC has proved beyond reasonable doubt that a commissioner of NICON, Chukwulozie, demanded fifty per cent of fees paid to liquidators of Gateway Insurance Plc.

“Beyond reasonable doubt is the standard of evidence required to validate a criminal conviction. Generally the prosecution bears the burden of proof and is required to prove their case.

“The prosecution has presented to court evidence to support its charges against the convict.

“In this case, they have done so. The court hereby sentences you to three years each on each of the five counts level against you, which will run concurrently.

However, Justice Oniyangi  held that the ICPC had failed to prove its case against the second (Angela) and third accused (Ogungbe) persons.

“The court discharges the second and third accused persons charged with aiding and abetting the crime.

It's no good news to hear that NYSC Corp Members are treated with discontentment in Kogi State, especially in remote local government like Olamaboro.

There have been cases of some drunk youths ganging up to launch attack on corpers at their capital project sites, accusing them of integrating strange norms into their culture

Let me go straight to what I witnessed this morning. I woke up this morning like every other boring mornings in the village where I serve, dressed up, and went to the school. On arrival, all the students were gathered at one corner looking at me and the other Corp members, some with satisfaction, while others with pity.

On getting to the class rooms, we saw some write-ups directly warning me and other three(3) batch A Corp members. The pictures attached to this email will help tell the story better (even with the wrong English). Continue...

As am writing this report, four(4)  of us (batch A) and two (2) other batch C corpers are on hide out, praying God to intervene on the issue.

Perhaps Queen Elizabeth II could learn something from her thrifty granddaughter-in-law Kate Middleton. The 87-year-old monarch has been overspending the royal family's famous fortune, according to a report published by the Commons Public Accounts Committee on Monday, Jan. 27.

Following her courtiers' advice, Her Majesty the Queen's reserve fund has fallen from £35 million ($58 million) in 2001 to just £1 million ($1.6 million) in 2014. The report states the royal family is "spending above their means and dipping into the reserves...the balance now stands at an all-time low." Continue...

The report also reveals that a number of palaces are in "dangerous or deteriorating" conditions. Forty percent of them, in fact, are "below acceptable standards." It's not exactly new information, as Queen Elizabeth II knows that there's an $82 million backlog in repairs due to tightened government funding.

Taxpayers fund the royal palaces in Britain, comprised of more than 300 buildings. In 2013, the public spent about £31 million ($51 million) renovating and operating the facilities. The report urged the treasury to "get a grip" and help the royal family to prevent "further damage and deterioration."

According to the report, royal staff members have been forced to catch rain in buckets to protect art and antiquities in some locations. Queen Elizabeth II's "antiquated" boilers are more than 60 years old.

"The Queen has not been served well by the Household and by the Treasury," said Margaret Hodge, the labor chairman of the Public Accounts Committee. "We got the impression that they just haven't tried to make greater savings. Here we are, we're all in it together, but they are failing to eek better value for the Queen. They are dipping into their reserves in a way that just isn't sensible."

"If you look at the Tower of London and its visitor numbers it makes you think that there's potential there. Have they done their darndest to maximize value for money?" Hodge wondered.

The royal household has pledged to introduce a 10-year maintenance plan to resolve the backlog. It has also pledged to increase the size of its reserve fund. Married to Prince Philip since 1947, Queen Elizabeth II has four children and eight grandchildren—including Prince William & Prince Harry.

A mother whose children died after she locked them in the car with a heater running, while she had sex in another vehicle, is on trial for homicide.

Prosecutors say Heather Jensen, 25, carried out a "death sentence" against her two young sons when she locked then in the hot car, Fox 31 Denver reports.

The charges against Ms Jensen include criminally negligent homicide, child abuse resulting in death and false reporting. Continue...

"Ms Jensen created the situation that caused her children to die," prosecutor Danielle Lewis said in opening statements.

Her defence says her actions should be assessed with regard to her low IQ, her youth and the fact her husband died six weeks earlier in a car accident.

"It was a tragedy, but it was an accident. It was not a crime," said public defender Elsa Archambault.
Ms Jensen sobbed loudly as her trial opened last week in Mesa County District Court, Colorado.

Ms Jensen’s sons, William, 2, and 4-year-old Tyler, died on November 27, 2012. She told her new live-in boyfriend she was taking the boys to play in the snow and drove them to a snow park, where she met up with a male friend to have sex in the car park.

At first, she left the two boys in the car with the heat on and the doors unlocked.

After about 30 minutes, Tyler opened the door and Ms Jensen returned him to her car, gave him a mobile phone to play with and secured the child locks before returning to her friend.

The children are said to have spent 90 minutes in the car, where an investigation revealed temperatures could have reached 60 degrees Celsius. Both boys died from hyperthermia.

Ms Jensen’s defence attributes her poor decision making to her low IQ of 76, which makes her borderline developmentally disabled.

A boyfriend also told investigating police that Ms Jensen had smoked marijuana the day before the children died.

In the three months leading up to the deaths, she had failed court-ordered drug tests three times, the Daily Sentinel reports. The testing was tied to a March 2012 arrest for domestic violence. Her husband Eric had told police Ms Jensen became violent after he confronted her about spending time with friends who supplied her with painkillers Vicodin and Percocet.

Following the deaths of her sons, Ms Jensen also violated the terms of her probation and left Colorado for Florida, to be with her family.
"I believe it would be a great opportunity for me to start my life over again in Florida, and being surrounded by all my family who loves me to help me get through the losses I’ve had in this past month," Ms Jensen wrote in the letter to a Mesa County judge. "And I would greatly appreciate it if you will let me move on with my life in Florida."

Ms Jensen's request was denied and she was arrested at her mother's home in North Fort Myers, Florida on January 16, 2013.

The jury deciding the case was made up of 10 women and five men, but a judge removed one of the jurors from the trial when he found out she added a witness from the trial as a friend on Facebook, CBS Denver reports. The trial is expected to run for nine days.

Judith Mazagwu popularly known as  Afrocandy  has  said Nigerians should be ready for her next movie.

According  to her, Destructive Instinct which has taken over the market  both in Nigeria and Abroad is a teaser. A movie she  said she used to test the market.

She disclosed this while speaking with NAIJA CENTER NEWS correspondent. She said that  the next movie will be more extreme  and wild since she  has observed that Nigerians are ready for her.
Her words “I was just testing the water with Destructive Instinct to see what i can do. Now that i know Nigerians are ready for AFroCandy, i am going to unleash the real AfroCandy into  Nigeria, Future movie  is going to be hotter, this was a tease.”

Speaking on the increase in price of her movie in Lagos and Aba, she blamed the marketers who decided to cut a movie of part  1 and 2 into  part 1,2,3 and 4 and then increase the  cost of each parts in order to make money.

She added that she is watching the marketers and whoever among them do something out of the ordinary in the selling of her movie will be out of what she called “her  good book” because more are coming.

She expressed disappointment over what she referred to as “the so called Nollywood USA” attempt to sabotage what she worked for. She  revealed that a radio  station owner  in the  State informed her of the Nollywood USA anger over her movie,saying that they are complaining that they started the movie before her, meaning, she is trying to take over.


She opined that the movie industry is big enough to contain everyone and with your talent, you can have many fans. She lashed at some directors who she said can’t even act but  direct movies in the USA because they can afford it.

She also revealed  that many  actors and  actresses in the USA are not registered members of  Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN). She according her, is a registered  member of the body for  many years.
“I have been called for audition many times and at times, i end up giving suggestions or argue at their method of directing the movie.” she said.

She  added ” Most of them that are calling themselves  Nollywood USA are not even registered, they had about  Nollywood and they started producing movies because they could afford it. And again, i look at them as jokes because those calling themselves directors cannot act”
When  asked if she would feature the  nudity champion,  Maheeda,  in her next movie, she bluntly said no, she refused to make further comment  on Maheeda as she said she  has bigger plans for her next movie.

Without  mentioning name, she said “i am not competing with nobody, you just started, i have been doing this for a long time, you can’t just compete with Afrocandy by taking off your clothes . I have done all that, i have done more. You haven’t exposed half of what i have exposed, i am doing my thing and i have more endowment to do mine.”

41 years old loving wife Samantha who saved her husband's life by giving him one of her kidneys now wants it back after he dumped her.


Her husband Andy Lamb was dying of renal kidney failure and was only being kept alive by weekly sessions of dialysis until his wife Samantha persuaded him to take one of hers.

The 41-year-old mother-of-one told the Sunday People:

'He needed a new kidney or he would die. He was on dialysis three times a week. I told Andy he should go through with it. He had children from an earlier relationship and he wanted to be there for them.'

But Samantha says as soon as she went through with the operation she regretted it. She believed her
husband was cheating on her - first that he was having an affair with her friend Clare who she confronted and which Andy denies.

The couple tried to save their marriage and Samantha gave her husband one more chance but claims she later discovered he was having sex chats online with women.

The couple got married in 2007 but in 2012, Andy finally left his wife. Samantha said: 

'I would definitely go through the operation again - but I wouldn't give the kidney to him. I hate him. If I could, I'd take it back and give it to someone else.'

Andy however denies having an affair with Samantha's friend but admits walking out on her. He said: 

'I never wanted her to donate her kidney because it was a big risk. But she insisted and I'll always owe her my life'.
At the time of the operation Andy said: 

'Sam's doing all this for me and I'll never get over that. She is just amazing and fantastic. I could never put into words how I feel about this. If this happens she will have given me the gift of life.'

Tonto and AY are good friends. She's even done a few skits for AY comedy shows but last night the two friends went for each other, well more like Tonto went for AY.

Trouble started after the comedian re-posted a link to a story on his blog which was an earlier post about Tonto's look at the Calabar Carnival in December 2013. Tonto felt he was making fun of her and went for the jugular. See more tweets after the cut..

Some male residents of a Lagos community yesterday made a startling discovery in one of the rivers in the area. The young men found an enormous python-like snake in the Majidun River in the Ikorodu area of the state.

They managed to kill it and they put it on display at a roadside with the intent of selling it for a price of N50,000.
