A corps member, Emmanuel Oyelara serving in Ohaozara LGA of the state was weekend, stabbed in his left eye by one of his girlfriends for allegedly having an affair with another lady within the area of his place of primary assigment.

Oyelara who is now lying in a critical condition at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, FETHA, because of the injuries he sustained might never see again as it was reported that before the unfortunate incident his right eye were already defective.

It was gathered that a fight broke-out when one Happiness and Maria, whom the “lover boy” Corps member was said to have been dating, eventually met in his house on the faithful day.

Investigation revealed that the fight was the fourth time the ladies were fighting in Corper Oyelara’s house over the “lover boy”.

It was learnt that Happiness who hailed from Umuchima in Uburu town of the LGA, having been hurt by the promiscuous attitude of Oyelara allegedly used a broken bottle and stabbed him on his left eye without considering the consequences of her action.

When Vanguard correspondent visited Corper Oyelara at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, he denied that the two ladies were his friends, insisting that they (the ladies) usually bring vegetables for him to buy until when both of them met in his house and engaged in fight.

According to him, when the fight started, he left to go and report the matter to their parents when Happiness caught up with him and stabbed him on his left eye.

Investigation however revealed that the two ladies are single mothers; one with 3 children and the other with 2 kids purportedly from different men. Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sylvester Igbo confirmed that the two Uburu ladies had been arrested over the incident as investigation were on to unravel the remote causes that made Happiness stabbed the victim on his left eye having been aware that the corps member had difficulty in seeing with his right eye.

He added that investigation had proven that the victim was dating the two ladies, Happiness and Maria before the unfortunate incident occurred.

he students of Ladoke Akintola University yesterday embarked on a riot and as at this morning, the riot is getting really serious.

According to what the students; In the 1st week of January 2013, a bus driver hit a final year student awaiting his call-up letter sending him on a journey of no return with a brake failure excuse. and just today (8, April 2013), 3 innocent girls have embarked on the same journey with a taxi driver as the sender.

Going back to school after getting their laboratory coats as ordered by the lecturer.

In an attempt to escape death, she flew off the bike and hit her head on the tarred road and died instantly, the second girl on the bike and the third girl walking by the road side died on arrival at the hospital.

Three other students who are passengers in the taxi are in coma and the okada rider lost one leg and one arm. Yesterday, the students beat up a female lecturer because:.....

1) This is the 3rd incident in 2 years whereby a driver or an okada rider will kill a students

2) The driver of today's unfortunate incident was drunk, alcohol was perceived strongly all over him

3) The wicked pregnant lecturer that sent them to get their lab coats said she's not concerned with their death because she was doing her job by sending them out.

The three dead girls were undergraduates of Science Laboratory Technology (SLT), 200 level.

A father, Mr Onyekachi Ekwelum, who sold his six-month-old son to raise money to process his travel documents, has been charged before a magistrate in court to defend his action.

Parading the suspect along with others at the Police Headquarters yesterday in Umuahia , Commissioner of Police, Abia State, Usman Tilli Abubarka, said the suspect sold the baby for N350,000.

Mr Ekwelum allegedly hatched and executed the act without the consent of the wife, but the lid was blown off by his 20-year-old spouse, Ozioma, when she could not find their son and reported the matter to the police.

It was discovered that her husband wanted to abandon her and travel to Greece. The Abia State commissioner of Police, Mr Usman Abubakar Tilli, who disclosed this to newsmen in his office on Monday said the police mounted a man hunt that led to the rescue of the child and the arrest of the suspects.

We gathered that the young wife is still in shock over her husband's action.
